Adult Ministries

The following is a list of Adult Sunday School Classes, all of which welcome visitors. To obtain more information about these classes, please feel free to e-mail the church at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

(Room 214, 1st level Education Annex)
The Earthen Vessel/Boanerges class is made up largely of mature adults, many of whom are professionals (both active and retired) who have a wide variety of interests and activities. Lessons, led by class members or invited guests, cover topics of biblical, humanitarian, service related topics and contemporary concerns. Free exchange of ideas and discussions are encouraged. Members participate generously in church, community, service and mission projects. A general feeling of concern and caring is characteristic of class members. Occasional social events add to conviviality. Tom Turner serves as class president and can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Room 216, 1st level Education Annex)
Our class of energetic couples and singles, primarily in their 30’s and 40’s and most with families from tots to teens, share the desire to make our faith the foundation on which we build our lives. We challenge ourselves through thought-provoking discussions and life experiences to continually examine our faith in relation to ourselves, our families and our service to others. Local Mission projects throughout the year and fellowship activities outside the church keep this lively group intertwined. We invite you to join us as you build upon your foundation in life. Mike Steely is the class contact.

(Room 209, Office Wing)
“Friends in Faith” literally captures the relationship that exists among the members of this class. On Sundays the topics of study include a variety of Bible study materials and discussions of current spiritual issues. At other times the class enjoys frequent social events that always include great food and excursions where the topics of conversation tend toward retirement, grandchildren, travel and anything else that can be covered before late news time! The door is always open for new “friends”. Ann Watson is the class contact and can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

(Prayer Chapel)
We are all travelers on a journey…A caring, supportive group of diverse individuals who recognize that while every person’s faith journey is an individual quest, we all benefit from collective study, guidance and fellowship. We celebrate God’s inclusiveness and welcome everyone as we seek to grow spiritually in God’s grace. By way of welcoming all people, we strive to personify the United Methodist slogan –“Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.” Our studies are based on scripture and contemporary topics in an open discussion format in order to connect faith with life. We invite you to join us as we seek to develop the spiritual tools with which to face life’s challenges and opportunities. Michele Goggans is the class contact.

(Room 321, 2nd level Education Annex)
This class has a commitment to both study during the Sunday School hour and an active social life outside of Sunday school where we come together on a regular basis to bond friendships with each other. For learning, we use study books of 8-12 chapters. Each family unit purchases a book and stays current on the reading. Class members share teaching duties. Both Bible study books and books on current issues are used. New members are always welcome. Please come for a visit. Clar Hall is the class representative and can be reached at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

(Room 219, 1st level Education Annex)
We are in our prime and finding our way together through the transitions from teenagers to empty nesters, first time grand-parenting and life changes! The class studies a mix of Biblical and other timely topics, including parenting teenagers and adult children, supporting aging parents, nurturing relationships and finding work/life balance, with a focus on applying faith principles and practices to everyday life. Classes are led by individuals both from within and outside the group and challenge us to “dig deeper” and get “up close and personal” with our beliefs. Friendships are strengthened through monthly social gatherings, a focus on mission opportunities and a commitment to encourage each other through prayer. The numerous obligations of mid-life spread our members in many directions among church, family, career, community and friends, but New Beginnings helps us stay connected and grounded in our Christian walk. Anne Stocks is our class contact and can be reached at 664-4017.

(Room 210, Office Wing)
The New Day Class is a combination of couples and singles within a wide age span. This is an active group, averaging 16 in attendance on Sundays and meeting socially twice a year. Several experienced teachers lead class discussions on books of the Bible or Bible based topics (no pre-biblical knowledge required!) The group‘s missions include supporting activities at Brady Elementary School, Hall High School, Methodist Family Health and Our House. Individuals in the class volunteer on several different church committees, in the church office, as ushers, on the Connect Desk, as exit greeters and as teachers. Jerry Kossover is our class contact and can be reached at 868-5622 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We welcome guests!

(Rooms 205-207, Office Wing)
Recently combined, these two groups make up Trinity’s “super seniors” but we are actually all “young-at-heart” adults. The history of Trinity UMC can be recounted by most of our members since we have been around for a number of years! The International Series of Bible Studies is the basis for our sessions, led by knowledgeable class members with an occasional guest speaker/leader. Social activities include a Fun Friday each month and other holiday celebrations. Participation in and support for mission projects is a priority for our class; we support the Salvation Army Angel Tree, the Brady School Project, Youth Home and other church related missions. Also, a dedicated group of our members serve as weekly volunteers for the church office. The class is a very caring group, taking care of each other. We love to have visitors and welcome new members. Our class representative is Bob Parette.

(Room 213, 1st level Education Annex)
The word serendipity means full of possibilities or surprises and we believe this definition easily describes the Serendipity Sunday School class. This class consists of approximately 27 members. Lessons are taught by class members who volunteer on a weekly basis and the lessons are taken from study books that the class has chosen by vote, covering one chapter per week. Occasionally the class joins other classes at Trinity for current presentations on political, social or contemporary issues pertaining to all of us. The class has seasonal gatherings as well as annual trips in the spring to float the Buffalo River and in the fall, a retreat to Devil’s Den, Iron Mountain or similar locations. Serendipity is composed of “invigorating, slightly off-center” members who are late 50’s and up. Jackie Reddick and Linda Jansonius are class contacts.

(Room 317, 2nd level Education Annex)
Webster’s defines “transition” as a passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another. Our class of couples and individuals understand that life is a series of transitions. Throughout times of stability, as well as the inevitable periods of transition, we explore biblically based topics and current events, as well as interfamily and interpersonal issues. Our mission projects include sponsoring two Haitian school children, the Arkansas Cares Christmas party, providing food and gifts for an underprivileged family at Christmas, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.   Class socials include a bi-monthly luncheon in Martin Hall, a spring family picnic, and a class Christmas party, along with other gatherings throughout the year. Joe and Nancy Wall are the class contacts.

Room 319, 2nd Level Education Annex
Our group ranges from late twenties to early 40’s, both single and married; those getting careers established, married and maybe having kids. Studies are based on books that reflect on what it means to be Christian in the 21st century. We encourage those disillusioned by the church to try us! We’re near the nursery area. Angie Bowen is the class contact.
